If you want to be in the know, you have to be in the room!
I attended the Council for Quality Growth meeting where Henry County Development Authority Executive Director Sharon Hill shared an insightful breakdown of our county’s economic strengths and future direction.
She highlighted the Five Key Sectors of Henry County’s Economy:
1️⃣ Distribution & Logistics
2️⃣ Advanced Manufacturing
3️⃣ Healthcare
4️⃣ Technology & Innovation
5️⃣ Corporate Headquarters & Shared Services
These sectors are driving the growth we’re seeing across the county and the numbers reflect it.
In just the last 12 months:
📌 810 new jobs created
📌 $603 million in new business revenue
📌 The work they do offsets 12% of Henry County’s property tax base
📌 They manage a $65 million portfolio focused on long-term economic outcomes
The Development Authority operates as a nonprofit public entity, a quasi-government organization with a professional team and a board appointed by our county commissioners. Their focus remains steady: strengthening industry, growing our workforce, expanding quality jobs, and keeping Henry County affordable for families.
And in case you didn’t know, 👓 Luxottica is Henry County’s largest privately owned employer, with 2,500 employees right here in our community.
Being connected matters. Staying informed matters and being in the room matters.
Let’s keep building a better McDonough and Henry County, together! 🌺
