Henry County Water Authority Board Meeting Live Update

I am attending the Henry County Water Authority (HCWA) Board Meeting this morning and wanted to share a quick and informative update for our community.

There is a robust discussion going on regarding Equinix’s projected water usage, which may reach up to 100,000 gallons per day. There is the design, ordering valves, connection to the system, delivery and up to 4 months to implement and there are many concerns that were raised. If you’d like to learn more, attend a meeting and read the post-meeting notes.

The City of Hampton’s City Manager and Mayor are present and the City Manager is actively engaged in the conversation at the podium, along with questions and comments from the HCWA Board. The Chairman, Warren Holder, asked pointed and well-informed questions. He clearly understands the issues and is serious about protecting our county’s water resources. This a very important discussion!

As our county continues to grow, these types of discussions become even more important for us, the citizens, to understand how major projects impact our long-term water supply and infrastructure.

The City of Hampton is HCWA’s 2nd largest customer.
