What You Need to Know

We are looking forward to gathering at the Georgia State Capitol for Citizens for McDonough Advocacy Day.

Below are important details to help you prepare for the day.

📍 Entry Instructions

Please enter through the designated Public Entrance at Capitol Square (first floor).
Look for the “Public Entrance” signage.

All visitors must go through security screening before entering the building.

🪪 Bring Your ID

You must have a valid ID to enter the Capitol.
No ID = no entry.

🕘 Arrival Time

We recommend arriving as early as possible.
Security lines can be long during legislative session.

Participants who arrive early are welcome to:

  • Sit in the General Assembly

  • Observe committee meetings

  • Tour the Capitol

  • Sign up to meet a legislator

If you arrive early and would like to connect, you may text Montina once you are inside the building.

❤️ Wear Red

Please wear red so we can easily identify one another throughout the day.

Comfortable shoes are highly recommended. There are four floors and plenty of walking (elevators are available).

🍽 Lunch – 11:30 AM

We will meet at Café 244 around 11:30 AM.
Café 244 is directly across the street from the Capitol and open to the public.
Lunch is self-pay.

🎤 Official Program – 1:15 PM

Our Rotunda program will begin at approximately 1:15 PM in the South Wing area of the Capitol.

If you would like to share a brief message, you are welcome to do so.

🌟 Our Civic Focus

As you participate, keep in mind our areas of interest:

  • Seniors

  • Veterans

  • Small businesses

  • HOA-related regulations impacting neighborhoods

This is a civic and educational experience focused on presence, engagement, and understanding how state government works.
